Dust Registered for Wasp Control

September 9, 2014

Last year, CPMA leadership took action to mitigate the loss of FICAM for wasp control.   Allied Members with suitable replacement dust products were asked by CPMA to submit data to add wasps to their currently registered labels.   PMRA recently approved one of these labels. Since the loss of Ficam D, this is the first time pest management professionals have access to a dust insecticide to treat wasps inside as well as within wall voids of structures. The product is labelled for indoor use only and therefore exterior use, such as exterior nests within the ground or trees, is not permitted.

Per PMRA, the new wasp specific directions can be used immediately as long as the updated label is directly accessible to the technician. For the full label and specific use instructions, click here. (For the label in French, click here) Always ensure you follow all label directions and safety requirements, including wearing “a suitable dust mask approved by NIOSH/MSHA when handling.” And, “For applications to stored grain or when using a dust blower, wear a full-face NIOSH-approved respirator during mixing, loading or application.”
